Itinerary :

Day 1: Dazhong Backpacker’s Hostel – BUKIT LAWANG

We will pick you up and then drive about 3 hours to Bukit Lawang, a small tourist village on the edge of Gunung Leuser National Park. Bukit Lawang is the most popular and the easiest accessible entrance to the Park.

The park is one of the largest National Parks, straddling two provinces and containing over 800,000 hectares of virgin rainforest. It is the home of the Sumatran Orangutan, Sumatran Elephant, White-handed Gibbon, and many more.

Includes:

Transport (driver, petrol, and parking fees)

Check-in at Bukit Lawang Accommodation

Explore Bukit Lawang village (depending on your arrival time)

Free to relax and enjoy the scenery from the veranda of your accommodation

Day 2: Jungle Trekking & Overnight at Campsite

After breakfast, you will start a jungle trek to explore the National Park. You will follow 6–7 hours of trekking while searching for Sumatran Orangutans and other tropical flora and fauna.

It is not a flat walk, with some ups and downs. You have a big chance to see gibbons, Thomas leaf monkeys, long-tailed macaques, pigtail macaques, squirrels, Great Argus, and hornbills. An orangutan might even cross your way.

Enjoy an Indonesian lunch (packed) prepared by the team. Your guide will explain many things about the rainforest, including the different plants and flowers. Learn about setting up camp in the Sumatran jungle on arrival at your campsite and assist in building a fire to cook dinner.

Your local guide is well-versed in “camp cooking” — dining under the stars surrounded by the jungle sounds. The guide will play a few games and tricks to make it a fun night, ending with a little snack, tea, or coffee before sleeping.
