Description
3 Days 2 Nights Jungle Trekking
During this 3-day, 2-night jungle trek, you will go deeper into the Sumatran Rainforest to explore more hidden points within Gunung Leuser National Park. You will spend two nights at two different campsites, giving you plenty of opportunities to see an endemic variety of birds and wild animals.
Enjoy meals expertly prepared by our guides. After a long, hot jungle walk on narrow trails, refresh yourself in a pure, fresh mountain stream with cool, crystal-clear water — the perfect way to end each adventurous day.
Day 1: Kualanamu Airport / Medan Hotel – Bukit Lawang
Upon arrival at Kualanamu Airport or from your hotel in Medan, we will pick you up and drive about 3 hours to Bukit Lawang, a small tourist village on the edge of Gunung Leuser National Park.
Bukit Lawang is the most popular and easily accessible entrance to the Park. The park is one of the largest National Parks, straddling two provinces, and contains over 800,000 hectares of virgin rainforest. It is home to the Sumatran Orangutan, Sumatran Tiger, Sumatran Elephant, White-handed Gibbon, and many more species.
Includes:
- Transport pick-up with driver, petrol, and parking fees
- Check-in at Bukit Lawang accommodation
- Explore Bukit Lawang Village (depending on your arrival time)
- Free time to relax or enjoy the beautiful scenery from your balcony
Day 2: Bukit Lawang – Jungle Trekking to Campsite 1
After breakfast, you will start jungle trekking to explore the National Park. You will begin the jungle walk searching for Sumatran Orangutans and other tropical flora and fauna. It is not a flat walk, with some ups and downs.
You have a big chance to see gibbons, Thomas leaf monkeys, long-tailed and pig-tailed macaques, squirrels, Great Argus, and hornbills. A wild orangutan might cross your way.
Enjoy a little picnic with an Indonesian lunch pack prepared by the team. Your guide will explain many things about the rainforest, showing you different kinds of plants and flowers. Upon arrival at your campsite, learn how to set up camp in the Sumatran jungle and assist in building a fire to cook your dinner.
Your local guide is experienced in “camp cooking” — dining under the stars surrounded by the eerie sounds of the jungle. In the evening, your guide will play some games and tricks, making it a fun night, ending with snacks, tea, or coffee before sleeping.
